The plan had been for the kids and I to go out today, but I was just too tired from our family errands day yesterday. Plus, I still had to take the youngest to a party and then run some of my own errands later anyway.
So it was a quiet morning alone for a bit and then my youngest was up and we had some breakfast. Then she helped me plant some seeds. I’m trying to be better about letting her do things to help, as opposed to taking over and her just watching me.
After that, I went to rest and she started cleaning the bathroom. Scrubbed the sink and the toilet. Usually, when she’s alone making little noises in the bathroom, she’s making a mess of something. Not today.
Then she cooked herself noodles for lunch, with a little help from me. Shortly after, we were getting ready for the party, where she had fun. I had a weird time and went to too many stores. Got home and remembered I still hadn’t gotten sweet potatoes for lunch at the in-laws tomorrow. Back out I went.
What had started as a nice day, was turning me sour. I did dishes to cook dinner. More dishes to serve dinner. Took care of laundry and then rested. My youngest was restless and began poking her preteen siblings.

As a distraction, I got the empty spray bottles and household supplies and we made cleaning sprays. I remembered to trust her with some of the steps. She was so excited to try them out and we were both delighted by how well they worked. It warmed my heart and I was back to having a wonderful day with my kid.
